Ever wondered if those tax reform bills floating around online are the real deal? The House of Representatives just hit back at the rumors—dropping certified copies of President Tinubu’s four big tax laws to set the record straight.
Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, teaming up with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, ordered the release after lawmakers spotted shady versions circulating everywhere. House spokesman Hon. Akintunde Rotimi broke it down: a sharp-eyed rep raised the red flag on discrepancies, prompting a quick internal check and public drop of the authentic docs. “This is Speaker Abbas doing what he does best—championing transparency and trust in our laws,” Rotimi said.
The lineup? Nigeria Tax Act 2025, Nigeria Tax Administration Act 2025, National Revenue Service (Establishment) Act 2025, and Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Act 2025. These bad boys aim to streamline taxes, boost compliance, cut overlaps, and get federal, state, and local governments on the same page for better revenue.
Rotimi gave props to Abbas for steering the ship through consultations, debates, and all—making sure the reforms are fair, evidence-based, and Nigeria-ready. Hard copies are out now via the Federal Government Printing Press, and everyone’s urged to ditch fakes. Plus, an ad-hoc committee led by Rt. Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara is digging into how those knockoffs spread, with fixes coming soon.
