PDP URGES FG: PRIORITISE SECURITY, WELFARE IN 2026 AMID HARDship CRISIS

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) demanded Wednesday that the Federal Government place security and citizens’ welfare at the forefront of 2026 plans, slamming “persistent insecurity and economic hardship” as a call for “people-centred governance.”

Insight: PDP’s pointed New Year message signed by National Publicity Secretary Ini Ememobong escalates opposition pressure post-2025 reforms backlash (inflation spikes, banditry surge), positioning party as defender against APC “partisan survival” over public needs. Echoes rising calls for accountability amid 2027 polls.

“This new year must not be another chapter of broken promises,” Ememobong stated. “Government must protect lives/property. leaders are servants, not rulers.” He warned judiciary/INEC/security agencies against inducement, stressing democracy dies under impunity.

PDP recommitted to “speaking truth to power” for equity/fairness. “Happy New Year we stand with Nigerians in their aspirations.”
