Benue’s food basket gets a massive refill: Gov. Hyacinth Alia inked the N695 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill Wednesday, up N89.5bn from his N605.51bn proposal, tagging it “Budget of Rural Development, Livelihood Support & Sustainability.”
Chief Press Sec Tersoo Kula confirmed the quick Assembly passage and assent. “Rooted in our realities, this flips rural neglect—decades overdue for the communities feeding Nigeria,” Alia declared. Priorities: Feeder roads, bridges, water, power, climate-smart infra to link farms to markets, unlocking wealth, schools, hospitals, and dignity.
Ag’s the star subsidised inputs, mechanisation, extension services, processing hubs to build value chains, jobs, incomes. Alia praised Speaker Alfred Emberga’s team for diligent scrutiny amid economic headwinds, calling private sector, partners, and media to collaborate. “Implemented with discipline success measured by lives touched.”
