INFORMATION MINISTER IDRIS MOURNS 7 GOMBE JOURNALISTS KILLED IN ROAD CRASH

Information and National Orientation Minister Alhaji Mohammed Idris expressed profound shock Tuesday over the tragic death of seven journalists in a lone vehicle accident in Gombe State Monday evening, as the newsmen returned from a wedding in the Gombe South Senatorial District attended in solidarity with an NTA colleague.

In a statement from Special Assistant on Media Malam Rabiu Ibrahim, Idris described the loss as a “harrowing moment” and “heavy blow” to Nigeria’s media community, praising the victims as dedicated professionals who informed the public with courage, integrity, and truth.

Idris extended condolences to the Gombe NUJ Council, families, friends, and colleagues, praying for strength and eternal rest, while reaffirming federal solidarity and commitment to enhanced journalist safety measures amid the national grief.
