Human rights lawyer Rockson Igelige blasted a viral video Monday showing Nigerian actor and Benin cultural advocate Dr. Don Pedro Obaseki – cousin of ex-Edo Gov and Hosamudia Farm CEO – getting ambushed, assaulted, and dragged to Oba’s Palace over a “cultural dispute” at Uwa Primary School in Benin City during a football game!
Igelige slammed the mob’s “barbaric, criminal” treatment as a blatant 1999 Constitution violation – no cultural beef justifies public shaming, especially for Obaseki, UNIBEN Theatre Arts ex-lecturer and Benin history booster who’s no threat to peace or tradition. He urged Edo Govt, Police, agencies for immediate transparent investigation, full accountability – “Justice must be seen, barbarism ain’t Benin ethos!”
