SUPER EAGLES GRIND OUT 2-1 WIN OVER TANZANIA IN AFCON OPENER.

Naija fans, what a nail-biter! Super Eagles kicked off the 35th AFCON in Morocco with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Tanzania’s Taifa Stars at Complexe Sportif de Fes Tuesday—three vital points in Group C.

Semi Ajayi broke the deadlock in the 36th minute, rising high to head in Alex Iwobi’s pinpoint cross for a 1-0 halftime lead. Tanzania leveled just two minutes into the second half through Charles M’Mombwa’s close-range finish off a loose ball, but Ademola Lookman restored order in the 55th with a clinical left-footed rocket from outside the box.

Nigeria dominated chances—Victor Osimhen had a goal chalked off by VAR and hit the bar via Akor Adams—but held firm under Eric Chelle to secure the win against spirited Taifa Stars. Next up: Tunisia and Uganda in the group!
