Hey, have you heard? The Nigerian Army just pulled off a massive win in Benue State snagging Fidelis Gayama, that notorious bandit boss who’s been terrorizing the Benue-Taraba border with kidnappings and robberies for ages. Talk about a game-changer!
Troops from the Forward Operating Base in Wukari, part of the 6 Brigade and Operation Whirl Stroke’s Sector 3, nabbed him on December 21 in Vaase community, Ukum LGA. It all kicked off from solid intel, leading to this precision strike.
Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director of Army PR for the brigade, confirmed it in a Jalingo statement. “This is huge,” he said. “Gayama’s a top target, linked to tons of kidnappings and robberies along that corridor.” Early probes show he’s tight with Aka Dogo, another wanted terror on those border roads like Kente-Wukari. Even the local police at Vaase and Gbeji Division had him on their wanted list.
Right now, he’s in military custody, soon heading to the right authorities for deeper digs and court. Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, the 6 Brigade Commander and Sector 3 OPWS boss, praised his team’s sharp skills. “This hits criminals hard,” he added. “No room for banditry—we’re keeping the heat on till peace sticks. Folks, keep those tips coming; we need you!”
What a boost for safer travels and communities—proof intel and teamwork are crushing these networks.
