NAFDAC TORCHES N10BN OF FAKE DRUGS, POISONS IN KANO CRACKDOWN

NAFDAC boss Prof Mojisola Adeyeye lit up 618 tonnes of counterfeit killer goods worth over N10.19 billion Thursday in Kano, incinerating fake antibiotics, anti-malaria meds, adulterated oils, toxic cosmetics, bogus agrochemicals and rigged medical kits—slamming scammers for assaulting public health in a fiery end to impunity.

From antibiotics and antihypertensives to contaminated sachet water, falsified tomato paste and psychoactive fakes seized across pharma, food and chemical rackets, the blaze underscores NAFDAC’s iron mandate under 2004 laws, boosted by WHO Maturity Level 3 status and Tinubu-backed push for global top-tier regulation.

Kano Gov Abba Yusuf (via Kamilu Yakasai), Customs, Police, NDLEA and PSN cheered the purge, which slashes healthcare bills, hikes productivity and guards food chains—urging Nigerians to shun street hawkers and report via NAFDAC lines for zero-tolerance wins.
