National Orientation Agency boss Lanre Issa-Onilu unveiled a powerhouse plan Wednesday in Abuja, tapping 16 media platforms and all 774 local government areas to demystify Nigeria’s incoming tax reforms—slamming the brakes on misinformation that’s fueling anxiety ahead of the Jan 1, 2026 rollout for fairer fiscal fixes.
Inaugurating a joint committee with President Tinubu’s Fiscal Policy crew, Issa-Onilu (via Nura Akobi) stressed two-way grassroots chats with communities, CSOs and SMEs to bridge policy gaps, counter fake news and ensure no one—from informal hustlers to big players—gets left in the dark on how reforms boost inclusion without hiking burdens on the poor.
Tinubu’s economic adviser Tope Fasua doubled down, calling it a “pro-poor” recalibration that shields struggling businesses while enemies try sabotage—proving decentralized sensitization could turn reform skeptics into cheerleaders for sustainable revenue and service wins.
