The UK-backed Strengthening Peace and Resilience in Nigeria (SPRiNG) Programme hailed the Federal Government’s rollout of the third National Action Plan (NAP III) on Women, Peace and Security in Abuja, pledging hands-on support to weave women into peacebuilding, justice reforms and security ops amid rising violence, radicalization and SGBV threats.
Tetra Tech’s Team Lead Dr Ukoha Ukiwo spotlighted SPRiNG’s role in crafting the plan—born from FCDO to slash conflict and climate woes—pushing state/local WPS blueprints, non-kinetic responses, women’s economic lifts and disability-inclusive security that boosts trust, curbs hate speech, drugs and arms flows, while fixing past gaps in awareness, budgets and coordination for true grassroots buy-in.
Women Affairs Minister Imaan Ibrahim-Sulaiman tied NAP III to Beijing ’95, ministry’s 30 years and UNSCR 1325’s quarter-century, anchoring it in Tinubu’s Renewed Hope for women-led stability—thanking SPRiNG, UN Women and partners for fueling this inclusive pivot that empowers families and vulnerable groups at peace’s core.
