ARD-UATH DOCS URGE HEALTH PREVENTION AMID JAPA CRISIS

Resident doctors at University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (ARD-UATH) are firing up Nigerians to prioritize prevention over cure—checking blood pressure, dodging diabetes and ditching vices especially this yuletide—after treating 300 police families at Mopol 44 Barracks in Kuje, Abuja, amid a brutal doctor exodus crippling care access.

President Dr Adewale-Adeleye Premiere, marking the association’s AGM and Scientific Conference with Police HMO partners, rolled out free BP/sugar tests, hepatitis/malaria/HIV/TB screens, eye checks with glasses, consultations and counseling—slamming non-communicable killers as avoidable, flipping “health is wealth” to “wealth is health” since cash-strapped folks can’t beat japa shortages or sky-high bills on the road to 2030 Universal Health Coverage.

PRO Dr Ogunfowokan Oluwasegun and Outreach Chair Dr Ruqayyah Kolawole hailed Police HMO’s sponsorship for insurance education and societal payback, as HR boss Yakubu Enape pushed NHIS perks to slash out-of-pocket pains—proving teamwork accelerates UHC while docs give back amid festive temptations.
