TINUBU HAILS NIGERIAN TROOPS FOR THWARTING COUP IN BENIN REPUBLIC

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu celebrated the Nigerian Armed Forces’ swift action Sunday, deploying air and ground support to crush a military coup attempt in neighbouring Benin Republic and safeguard democracy there.

Benin’s government urgently called for help after Colonel Pascal Tigri’s soldiers seized the national TV station and declared President Patrice Talon overthrown. Nigeria took charge of Benin’s airspace, provided air strikes on key rebel sites, and sent ground troops to restore order alongside loyal Beninese forces.

Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede confirmed rapid execution of orders, with troops now aiding stabilization. Tinubu praised their professionalism, aligning the mission with ECOWAS protocols on democracy.

Nigeria stands tall as a regional defender of constitutional rule!
