The Nigerian Army just leveled up its training game with the grand opening of a state-of-the-art Land Warfare Wargaming Centre at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) in Jaji— a game-changer for sharpening officers’ skills in operational planning and future battles.
Chief of Army Staff Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu commissioned the facility, calling it a massive boost inspired by the Lt.-Gen. T.Y. Buratai Operations Centre’s limits. Conceived in 2024 under late Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja and completed in just 11 months by October 2025, it packs a 264-seater gallery, 8 planning cells, 3D printer room, cutting-edge simulators, CCTV, and a 100KVA generator for non-stop action.
AFCSC Commandant AVM Hassan Alhaji hailed it as Nigeria’s first world-class wargaming hub for joint exercises, while Director Brig.-Gen. N.U.C. Ogili spotlighted its role in honing decision-making, risk analysis, and morale-boosting tech. Shaibu thanked President Tinubu’s support and urged everyone to maintain it for top-tier defence readiness.
