A joyful trip home from Kogi’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities event turned deadly Wednesday, claiming six lives and injuring 13 others in a horrific bus crash on the Lokoja-Okene road.
The victims, all from Okene, were returning from the Government House commemoration when disaster struck, leaving the state in mourning. Commissioner Kingsley Fanwo called it one of Kogi’s saddest days, sharing Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s deep condolences and commitment to cover all medical bills for the injured.
Government teams are at hospitals providing support, vowing to stand by the families through this heartbreak. Prayers pour in for the departed souls and swift healing for survivors.
