After two agonizing weeks in captivity, 38 worshippers from Eruku in Kwara State’s Ekiti LGA made a triumphant return Tuesday evening, sparking massive celebrations as families reunited amid songs, prayers, and tears of relief.
The group, who received top medical care in Ilorin courtesy of the Federal Government, Kwara State, and the National Security Adviser, was officially handed over to LGA Chairman Gabriel Awelewa before arriving home around 6:30pm to throngs of cheering residents.
Awelewa thanked President Tinubu, Governor AbdulRazaq, the NSA, and security teams for the swift rescue, vowing beefed-up protection across all 10 wards. Oba Busari Olanrewaju called it a “huge relief,” boosting community faith in anti-crime efforts.
