A medical doctor suspected of acting as a key drug courier for kidnapping gangs in Kwara State has been arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Jebba.
The doctor was caught transporting medical supplies from Sokoto to criminal hideouts believed to be deep within forested areas. Security sources say the arrest came after focused intelligence operations tracking couriers aiding these syndicates, who increasingly rely on medical help for gunshot wounds sustained in battles with security forces.
Authorities are warning hospitals near forest corridors to ramp up security, as kidnappers may target such health facilities for treatment. The DSS plans to step up investigations and crack down further on these criminal networks.
