Nigeria just landed a historic moment in aviation! Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, announced during the launch of the first-ever Nigeria International Airshow (NIA) at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport that the Federal Government is stepping up efforts to make Nigeria Africa’s aviation hub.
Keyamo called it a “historic moment” as Nigeria joins the ranks of global airshow hosts like Paris and Dubai. Though it’s the first try, Nigeria’s bold steps under the Renewed Hope Agenda are already drawing major airlines, manufacturers, and global partners for business, tech, and investment opportunities all aimed at boosting connectivity and aerospace innovation.
The event is more than a show it’s a platform to inspire young Nigerians, showcase cutting-edge aerospace tech including drones and defense systems, and spotlight Nigeria’s vision for a modern, secure, and globally competitive aviation industry as championed by President Bola Tinubu.
Keyamo stressed the airshow will evolve annually, attracting global attention, and fueling economic growth, stronger security, and tourism. The ministry is proud to run this flagship event through a public-private partnership, with no federal funds spent on organizing it, setting Nigeria firmly on the global aviation map.
