NIGERIA’S PARA POWERLIFTING TEAM TRIUMPH: A JOURNEY OF GRIT AND GLORY

Nigeria’s Para Powerlifting squad made a powerful statement at the 1st West Africa Para Games, clinching 10 of the 15 medals and emerging as clear champions at the Alake Sport Centre in Abeokuta.

This victory wasn’t an overnight success—it was the result of relentless training, resilience, and teamwork that started from the competition’s opening day on Friday. Despite challenges and tough rivals, Team Nigeria pushed through, united by a shared goal to showcase their strength and spirit in the face of adversity.

Coach Ijeoma Eherogbe captured the team’s spirit perfectly: “It hasn’t been easy, but through hard work, dedication, and belief, we secured this top spot. We proved that when Nigerians come together, nothing is impossible.”

From the men’s and women’s categories to every medal won, Nigeria’s journey was one of determination and pride, inspiring para-athletes across the region.
