NIGERIA CRUSHES PARA BADMINTON AND AMPUTEE FOOTBALL AT WEST AFRICA PARA GAMES

Team Nigeria is on fire at the Abeokuta West Africa Para Games, smashing 15 medals (5 gold, 7 silver, 3 bronze) in Para Badminton to widen their lead!

In badminton at Alake Sports Centre, golds came fast in SU5 men, SL4 men, Wheelchair 1 men/women, plus SU5–SL3 XD and SL4–SL3 XD mixed doubles. Coach Olasunkanmi Adewale beamed, crediting their All-African dominance (10 golds there) for this prep. Benin nabbed 2 golds/5 silvers, Ghana 1 gold/3 bronzes, but Nigeria owned the court.

Over in amputee football at MKO Abiola Arena, Nigeria punched their final ticket with a gritty 1-0 win over Cameroon (Michael Joel scoring), after a wild 11-0 opener vs Benin Republic. Coach Gbenga Dosunmu eyes gold and begs for government backing: “No underdogs here—we need support to go further.”

Liberia jumped to second with a 7-0 rout of Benin after drawing Cameroon 0-0, setting up epic finals.
