A terrifying attack unfolded Sunday morning in Ejiba, Kogi State, as gunmen stormed a Cherubim and Seraphim Church during service, kidnapping the pastor known as Orlando, his wife, and several worshippers. Panic erupted as congregants scattered amid gunfire.
Eyewitnesses described the chaos, with many fleeing for their lives while the heavily armed attackers seized their victims swiftly. Community and security officials are scrambling to track the kidnappers, believed to have been hiding nearby. Kogi’s Information Commissioner, Kingsley Fanwo, condemned the attack and warned residents about the risks of worshiping in unsecured locations.
Fanwo urged vigilance and cooperation with security forces to help rescue the victims safely. The state government is coordinating efforts to bring them back, signaling zero tolerance for such violence amid rising threats in border areas.
