Kano State Fire Service successfully rescued Hajiya Khadija Muhammad, aged 65, after she fell into a well in Gafiyawa town, Kumbotso Local Government Area. The dramatic rescue happened on Wednesday morning following a distress call from Ibrahim Sani.
According to Service spokesperson Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, the rescue team swiftly responded, and through quick action, Hajiya Khadija, who had fallen due to her mental illness, was brought out safely and handed over to her brother.
The Fire Service urged residents and property owners to ensure wells are properly secured with raised edges and metal covers to prevent future accidents.
