Justice Hamza Muazu of FCT High Court, Maitama, halted the prosecution from calling three subpoenaed witnesses Tommy Odama, Ifeanyi Omeke, and Alvan Grumman in the ongoing trial of former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele on Thursday. The ruling stems from a March 20 decision striking out the prosecution’s additional proof of evidence (now under appeal), making the witnesses ineligible until the Court of Appeal rules.
Emefiele faces a 20-count charge (FCT/HC/CR/577/2023) for alleged abuse of office, corruption, fraud, forgery, and breach of trust—including awarding six vehicle supply contracts worth billions using his position. He has pleaded not guilty throughout multiple arraignments since 2023, securing bail in related cases like a N2bn bond for a 753-unit estate fraud suit.
The case resumes January 29, 2026, amid Emefiele’s legal battles spanning EFCC, SSS probes on procurement fraud and naira redesign controversies.
