ALIVE & THRIVE NIGERIA CELEBRATES 4-YEAR NUTRITION WINS, URGES SUSTAINED COLLABORATION

Alive & Thrive Nigeria, implemented by FHI 360, reviewed its four-year Accelerating Nutrition Project achievements in Abuja, highlighting policy boosts, micronutrient supplement access for pregnant women, frontline health worker training, and breastfeeding promotion in primary care. Country Rep Dr Victor Ogbodo called for ongoing partnerships to tackle Nigeria’s malnutrition crisis—stunting affects 31.5% of under-5s, anaemia hits 55% of women—amid systems strengthening and community empowerment.

Coordinating Health Minister Prof Muhammad Pate, via Mrs Ladidi Bako-Aiyegbusi, praised the model’s impact on breastfeeding support and health worker capacity, urging evidence-to-policy translation. House Nutrition Committee Chair Chike Okafor and President’s SSA Dr Uju Anwukah pledged deeper collaboration across seven states for maternal/infant nutrition gains.
