President Bola Tinubu has forwarded the names of three non-career ambassadorial nominees to the Nigerian Senate for screening and approval. The nominees are Kayode Aare from Osun State, Aminu Dalhatu from Jigawa State, and Ayodele Oke from Oyo State.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the president’s letter during Wednesday’s plenary session. He immediately directed the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs to review the nominations and report back within one week.
This move follows the recall of all Nigerian ambassadors in September 2023, signaling a gradual reconstitution of Nigeria’s diplomatic representation abroad. More names are expected in the coming weeks.
