FG TERMINATES UNDERPERFORMING ABUJA-LOKOJA ROAD CONTRACTS FOR POOR PERFORMANCE

The Federal Ministry of Works has cancelled multiple contracts on the Abuja-Lokoja highway after contractors failed to meet timelines despite massive delays some exceeding 188% of scheduled time with under 2% completion.

Minister David Umahi announced mutual terminations for projects like culverts/drains by Sadogi Nigeria Ltd (39% done, 113% time elapsed), Abuja-Lokoja Section 4A by Venus Construction (34% done, 131% elapsed), Okene-Ajaokuta-Itobe by CCECC (2% done, 147% elapsed), and Lokoja-Shintaku-Dekina by TEC Engineering (1% done, 189% elapsed).

One contractor got a December 20 deadline to finish despite debts owed, while Geld/Triacta must resume in 7 days on bad sections. JRB Construction earned praise for steady progress, ordered complete by December 10.

Umahi thanked President Tinubu for interventions on the critical 358km corridor, apologised to motorists for disruptions, and pledged emergency fixes for all outstanding works soon.
