President Bola Tinubu has ordered a full-scale security operation across forests in Kwara, Niger, and Kebbi States following a surge in kidnappings and terrorist activities. The directive includes a total cordon of the forested areas and 24-hour aerial surveillance by the Nigerian Air Force to complement ground troops tackling the menace.
President’s Special Adviser on Media, Sunday Dare, said the operation targets hideouts believed to shelter terrorists, with communities urged to assist by providing timely intelligence on suspicious movements. This move comes in response to recent mass abductions including over 300 students in Niger, 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi, and 38 worshippers in Kwara, with many still in captivity.
The President stressed an “all-out, no-retreat posture” until all abducted persons are rescued and terrorist networks dismantled. This coordinated federal action highlights urgent efforts to restore safety in vulnerable rural and forested areas while involving local communities alongside security agencies.
