Police in Borno State have rescued one girl and intensified efforts to find 13 girls abducted by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents during a farm raid in Askira/Uba Local Government Area. The abduction took place on November 22 when 14 girls from Mussa District were seized while working on farmland, according to ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, Police Public Relations Officer.
A joint rescue operation involving police, Nigerian military troops, Civilian JTF, and vigilantes was launched promptly. One girl escaped unharmed and was rescued, assisting authorities with intelligence. Search efforts for the remaining 13 girls continue.
Commissioner of Police Naziru Abdulmajid urged locals to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and operate within security patrol areas while assuring that updates would be provided as the operation progresses.
