PLATEAU WOMEN URGED TO FOCUS ON MEANINGFUL POLITICAL PARTICIPATION AND PEACEBUILDING

Political analyst and UJAA Global President Gad Peter has called on Plateau women to channel their efforts into meaningful political engagement that benefits the wider society. Speaking in Jos, Peter responded to protests by some APC women groups rejecting Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s alleged move to defect to APC.

Peter emphasized that regardless of protests, political decisions between parties and leaders will proceed independently. He lamented that many protesting women are often sidelined in critical decision-making processes and rarely have their voices heard.

Instead of protest, Peter urged women to focus on promoting peace, stability, and development in Plateau, while advocating for greater inclusion of women in leadership roles. He also highlighted the importance of pushing for policies that enhance child welfare, especially for the girl-child.

Peter expressed disappointment that the protests coincided with global efforts to combat digital violence against women and called on Plateau women to avoid being exploited for political gains.
