PLATEAU GOVERNOR BABANGIDA ALIYU URGES URGENT SECURITY IMPROVEMENTS, CELEBRATES LEGACY OF PEACE

Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, Niger Governor and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation (SAMF), has called for urgent actions to improve security across Nigeria. Speaking at a dinner in Kaduna marking his 70th birthday, Aliyu lamented the current insecurity in the North, saying, “the North now has 19 Sardaunas but lacks the peace and order once associated with the late Premier of Northern Nigeria.”

Aliyu stressed that the primary duty of government is protecting lives and property, urging a prioritization of security over infrastructure projects. Reflecting on the legacy of Sir Ahmadu Bello, he recalled the Sardauna’s integrity, selflessness, and leadership dedicated to discipline and equity, leaving behind no personal wealth but a legacy of good governance.

Grateful and reflective on his journey, Aliyu encouraged Nigerians to embrace peace and unity, practice daily self-assessment, and live without bitterness. The event honored his lifelong public service and commitment to education, justice, and Northern development.
