Troops of the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have successfully foiled a bandit ambush and rescued a kidnapped victim in Lokoja, Kogi State. Acting on credible intelligence about bandits moving through the Oshokoshoko-Obajana corridor with abducted persons, the troops, working jointly with hybrid security forces, laid a special ambush.
The bandits opened fire but were met with superior firepower, forcing them to flee in disarray. During the encounter, one bandit was neutralised, and the troops recovered an AK-47 rifle. The rescued victim, found weak and distressed, was immediately taken to a medical facility for urgent care.
The operation highlights the Nigerian Army’s commitment to combating violent crimes and banditry in the region, with ongoing efforts to track down fleeing criminals. Authorities urge residents to support security agencies by providing timely information to aid these operations.
