KEBBI GOVERNMENT TO PROVIDE FREE EYE TREATMENT FOR 5,000 PATIENTS ACROSS ALL LGAs

Kebbi State is set to deliver free eye treatment for 5,000 patients throughout its 21 local government areas in a five-day medical outreach. The initiative is a collaboration between the state government, the Saudi-based World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY), and the Nasara Foundation.

Health Commissioner Isma’il Augie, speaking after inspecting the program at Kebbi State Teaching Hospital, Kalgo, said the exercise includes 1,000 surgeries, 3,000 treatments, and 1,000 glasses distributions. The government shares 50% of the program costs alongside the partner organizations and provides beneficiaries with free meals throughout the event.

Dr Hisham Muhammad, WAMY Country Director, noted they have already treated over 500 patients, conducted 54 operations, and issued 100 glasses on the first day. The program targets 1,000 surgeries, over 600 glasses, and medication for more than 2,000 patients.

Special Adviser on Religious Affairs Imam Imran Usman urged residents with eye issues to take advantage of this free care, praising the state government, its First Lady Zainab-Nasara Nasir Idris, and WAMY for the compassionate partnership.
