Lieutenant-General Emmanuel Undiandeye, Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI), emphasized Nigeria’s determined use of technology to boost national security at the 2025 CDI Annual Conference in Abuja. The conference, themed “Multi-source Intelligence Innovation in a Challenging National Security Ecosystem,” gathers defence advisers, attachés, and regional coordinators to evaluate evolving security threats.
Undiandeye outlined Nigeria’s complex security landscape involving insurgency, terrorism, banditry, cybercrime, and organized crime, necessitating innovative, tech-enabled intelligence solutions. The Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) recently launched the Defence Intelligence Agency Technology Centre (DIATC), focusing on cybersecurity, AI, robotics, machine learning, and data analytics to strengthen intelligence gathering and disrupt adversaries, including terrorists and criminal networks.
He stressed enhanced interagency cooperation, cyber capabilities, and human capacity development as keys to tackling modern and transnational threats. Undiandeye lauded Nigeria’s defence personnel for advancing intelligence diplomacy and strategic partnerships globally, with full support from President Bola Tinubu, service chiefs, and security bodies to secure Nigeria’s future.
