The Bauchi State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all schools primary, secondary, and tertiary across the state, including public, private, and federal institutions. The move follows growing security worries affecting students, teachers, and school communities.
In a statement by Jalaludeen Usman, Public Relations Officer of the State Ministry of Education, the government said this difficult decision was made after extensive consultations to prioritize the safety of learners. Usman urged parents, guardians, and all stakeholders not to panic but to stay calm and supportive as security agencies work to resolve the situation swiftly.
The government reassured the public that normal academic activities will resume once it is safe to do so and called on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
Bauchi joins several northern states including Katsina, Plateau, Niger, Kwara, and Yobe in shutting schools temporarily to protect children amid increased attacks and kidnappings.
