TERRORISTS RAID ST. MARY’S SCHOOL IN PAPIRI, NIGER, ABDUCT MANY STUDENTS AND STAFF

In a heartbreaking incident, terrorists attacked St. Mary’s School in Papiri community, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, abducting an unknown but reportedly large number of students and staff in the early hours between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. This horrifying event follows closely the recent abduction of 25 female students in Kebbi State, where the vice principal was killed.

The Niger State Government confirmed the attack, expressing deep sadness and condemning the tragedy. They revealed the exact number of abductees is yet to be ascertained as security agencies continue assessment and search-and-rescue operations. The government blamed the school for reopening despite security warnings and suspension orders for boarding schools in the troubled area, thereby exposing pupils and staff to grave danger.

Security forces, including tactical police units and military personnel, have been deployed extensively to track down the kidnappers and ensure the safe return of the victims. Authorities urge calm and cooperation with security agencies while appealing to the public for any useful information.
