A survivor of the recent church abduction in Eruku, Kwara State, has revealed alarming details about the escalating terror group dominance in the state’s forest corridors. Speaking in Ilorin after release, he described how terrorists operate with confidence and deep familiarity with the terrain, running fortified camps deep inside the forests.
The abductors quickly surrounded the church during a service, showing ruthless intent. The victim said the gang openly declared themselves bandits, making it clear escape from their stronghold was nearly impossible. He noted the extensive knowledge the terrorists have of bush routes connecting Kwara to neighbouring states like Kogi and Niger.
This disclosure heightens public fear amid growing attacks in the region, with gunmen causing chaos, abducting residents, including pastors, and killing innocents during violent incursions. The forests have become dangerous strongholds and corridors for these armed groups, making combating them a critical security challenge.
