The Ondo State Police Command has arrested 35-year-old Temigbe Adeola for falsely parading himself as a serving Nigerian Army personnel and defrauding a family of N1.2 million, part of the victim’s mother’s retirement benefits invested in properties. The arrest followed credible intelligence and proactive policing efforts, with Adeola exploiting the trust of the victim’s son who had engaged him to recover the funds.
Police spokesperson DSP Olushola Ayanlade revealed that Adeola confessed to the crime, stating he was discharged from the Nigerian Army in 2023 after serving at the 82 Battalion in Enugu. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend accomplices still at large, as the command intensifies efforts to protect citizens and bring all involved to justice.
The police urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding lives and property while upholding professionalism in their operations.
