Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Ajia, Dan Amanan of Fune Emirate and Ilorin-born security expert, has raised urgent alarms over Nigeria’s worsening insecurity, highlighting the recent violent attack on worshippers at Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State. Describing the situation as “shameful” and “dangerous,” Ajia warned that repeated abductions and killings reveal a nation gradually consumed by insecurity.
Ajia criticized the government for the need of a foreign wake-up call, specifically the U.S. designating Nigeria as a ‘Country of Particular Concern’, before decisive actions were triggered. He urged political leaders to halt 2027 electoral ambitions to focus on national security, emphasizing the need for peaceful conditions before discussing future elections.
Calling community policing a national emergency, Ajia advocated for structured policies, proper equipment, and collaboration among traditional rulers, vigilantes, and security agencies. He also called for investments in surveillance, rapid-response tech, and decentralized policing for prompt, locally responsive action.
Expressing condolences for victims of the Eruku church attack and abducted Kebbi schoolgirls, Ajia demanded swift rescue, arrest, and prosecution of perpetrators while urging Nigerians to be vigilant and the federal government to fulfill its duty in protecting lives and property.
