GOV. DAPO ABIODUN MOURNS THE PASSING OF OLUSEGUN AWOLOWO, DESCRIBING HIM AS A REMARKABLE PUBLIC SERVANT

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Mr. Olusegun Awolowo, the grandson of the legendary Nigerian nationalist, Chief Obafemi Awolowo. In a condolence message issued in Abeokuta, the governor described Awolowo as “a gentleman par excellence, a voice of courage, and a consummate public servant” who made significant contributions to Nigeria.

Awolowo, aged 62, was a renowned lawyer and served as the Executive Director of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council from 2013 to 2021. He also held key public roles including Special Assistant to late Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Umaru Yar’Adua, demonstrating unwavering dedication to national development.

The family announced his passing on Thursday, with the cause of death undisclosed, marking a significant loss to Nigeria’s political and social landscape. Governors, politicians, and Nigerians at large have mourned his death, celebrating his exemplary life of service, integrity, and humility.
