Starting November 26, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is kicking into gear to enforce payments from defaulters owing Ground Rent, Land Use Change/Conversion fees, and bills for Right of Occupancy (R-of-O) and Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O). This includes property buyers who haven’t registered interests with the mandatory Minister’s Consent or completed Deeds of Assignment.
Mr. Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, reminded us that after a presidential intervention, defaulters were given a 14-day grace period in late May—which ended over five months ago. Additional grace notices were given for parts of Abuja like Asokoro and Maitama, ending November 24, making way for enforcement actions starting November 26. Anyone still behind on payments or registration will be targeted in this crackdown.
The message is clear: compliance is mandatory to avoid penalties and enforcement by the FCTA.
