CHINA RAILWAY GROUP LAUNCHES SEMINAR IN BEIJING TO BOOST NIGERIAN RAILWAY TECH SKILLS

China Railway Signal and Communication (CRSC) Group has inaugurated an international seminar on Rail Transit Intelligence Control Systems, bringing together Nigerian engineers, scholars, and transport experts in Beijing. This marks a significant move toward deepening Nigeria’s collaboration with China in modern railway technology.

The two-week seminar running from Nov 20 to Dec 4 involves key stakeholders including the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), and Federal Transportation University Daura (FUTD). It follows a tripartite agreement signed during FUTD’s matriculation in August, aiming to establish a Joint Intelligent Control Research Centre and advanced train control labs in Daura by 2026.

CRSC Chairman Zhang Jingfang hailed the seminar as a milestone, noting CRSC’s technology currently supports rail systems across more than 10 countries worldwide, including Nigeria. Participants engage in facility tours, factory training, specialized courses on signalling and control, and experience cutting-edge Maglev technology alongside China’s urban innovations.

Nigerian diplomat Mrs. Ninikanwa Okey-Uche praised CRSC’s commitment, highlighting the partnership’s foundation during visits in 2024. FUTD Vice-Chancellor Prof. Umar Adam-Katsayal expressed gratitude, seeing this as a leap toward empowering Nigerian engineers to lead Africa’s rail modernization with world-class expertise and strong China-Nigeria ties.
