JAKUSKO COMMUNITY SPEAKS OUT AGAINST GRAVE DESECRATION, DEMANDS JUSTICE

The Jakusko community in Yobe state is expressing strong condemnation after an unsettling incident where an unknown group exhumed a body from a grave at Makwalla cemetery. The disturbing discovery was made last Thursday, sparking deep outrage locally.

Alhaji Gremah Lamido, the Village Head of Jakusko, led community leaders to the Divisional Police Headquarters on Tuesday to denounce the act as “unholy and unacceptable”. He assured full cooperation with police in tracking down those responsible.

SP Dungus Abdulkarim, spokesman for the Yobe Police Command, urged residents to reject such “ungodly acts” and collaborate closely with security agencies to prevent repeat offenses. He also called on the public to swiftly report any suspicious activity around cemeteries.

State Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Ado praised the community’s proactive stance and emphasized the commitment of the police to bring the “fleeing perpetrators” to justice. He reaffirmed the importance of community leaders as key partners in maintaining peace and security through ongoing community policing efforts.

This united front between Jakusko’s people and the police sends a powerful message against immoral acts threatening public safety.
