Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) is standing firm in its mission to strengthen child protection systems across the state. On Tuesday, the agency shared a statement on its X handle, @Lagosdsva, marking the 2025 World Day for the Prevention of, and Healing from, Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Violence. The global theme this year “Strengthening the Protection of Children Against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse Through Evidence-Based Policy Making” highlights the urgent need for data-driven solutions to combat child abuse.
The United Nations designated November 18 as this special day in 2022, uniting the international community around awareness, prevention, and support for survivors. DSVA emphasized that protecting children is a shared responsibility. Prioritizing evidence-based policies ensures that interventions are effective, justice systems respond appropriately, and survivors receive the support they need to heal.
Reliable data and informed decision-making are the foundation of a safer society for children. The agency urged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspected cases of child abuse. The DSVA’s toll-free hotline,0-8000-333-333, is always open for immediate reporting and support.
Every child deserves safety, dignity, and a society that puts their well-being first. DSVA remains committed to protecting the state’s youngest and most vulnerable citizens.
