TINUBU EXTENDS MARWA’S TERM AS NDLEA CHAIRMAN, URGES INTENSIFIED DRUG WAR

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has renewed Brigadier-General Mohammed Buba Marwa’s (rtd) appointment as Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for another five years, extending his leadership until 2031. This move underscores the government’s trust in Marwa’s relentless fight against drug trafficking and abuse across Nigeria.

Marwa, a decorated military officer and former governor of Lagos and Borno states, has overseen major drug busts, arresting over 73,000 traffickers and seizing more than 15 million kilograms of illicit substances since 2021. Under his stewardship, the NDLEA has intensified nationwide campaigns targeting youth and vulnerable populations.

President Tinubu praised Marwa’s dedication and urged him not to relent in pursuing drug cartels, emphasizing the urgent need to protect Nigeria’s youth from the menace. The NDLEA is expected to deepen its reforms and rehabilitation efforts during this renewed tenure.
