The Kebbi State Police have confirmed the abduction of 25 female students from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area. CSP Nafi’u Abubakar, the Police Public Relations Officer, revealed that at around 4 a.m. on Monday, armed bandits stormed the school, firing shots and using sophisticated weapons.
Despite a brave gunfight with police tactical units, the bandits managed to climb over the school fence and abduct the girls from their hostel, taking them to an unknown location. Tragically, one man, Hassan Makuku, was killed, and another, Ali Shehu, sustained an injury to his right hand.
In response, additional police forces, military personnel, and vigilante groups have been dispatched to track the kidnappers and rescue the students. Kebbi Commissioner of Police Bello Sani reassured the public of the command’s dedication to protecting lives and property.
CSP Abubakar urged residents to stay calm, vigilant, and supportive of ongoing security efforts to restore peace and stability.
