The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended 20 individuals involved in serious crimes threatening Nigeria’s national security, the NSCDC National Public Relations Officer, Babawale Afolabi, announced during a press briefing in Abuja.
Under orders from Commandant General Ahmed Audi, the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’sSIS) carried out the arrests between October and November 2025. Of the suspects, eight face allegations including kidnapping, armed robbery, and murder. Two were identified as terrorists or militia linked to communal attacks, five allegedly dealt in stolen goods, two were suspected vandals of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) installations, and three are accused of fraud-related crimes.
The arrests occurred across several states including Abuja, Nasarawa, Benue, Plateau, and Ondo, signaling no safe haven for criminals. Investigations revealed a syndicate involved in kidnapping ransoms and killings, including attacks on communities.
The NSCDC seized several weapons and stolen properties such as AK-47s, G3 rifles, ammunition, a snatched Toyota Corolla, motorcycles, electronics, cash, and charms.
This operation reaffirms NSCDC’s commitment, aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, to eradicate criminal elements and protect lives and properties nationwide. All suspects will face prosecution following thorough investigations.
The NSCDC urges citizens to provide timely intelligence to aid ongoing security efforts.
