FRSC ONDO URGES MOTORISTS: STAY FOCUSED, AVOID SPEEDING AND OVERLOADING TO STAY SAFE THIS YULETIDE

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ondo State Sector Command has issued a strong warning to motorists to avoid distracted driving, speeding, and overloading during the festive season to prevent road accidents. Dr. Samuel Ibitoye, the FRSC State Sector Commander, emphasized this during the 2025 Ember months stakeholders meeting held in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area.

Ibitoye stressed that road safety requires vigilance from all road users—drivers, passengers, and pedestrians alike. He highlighted that distracted driving is one of the leading causes of accidents in Nigeria and urged everyone to stay alert and follow traffic rules.

Local officials, including Ilaje Local Government Chairman Maurice Oripenaye, and traditional rulers pledged support for FRSC’s safety campaign, encouraging all to take personal responsibility for road safety. The campaign also included free medical outreach services to support local residents.

“The safety of your life depends on how you conduct yourselves on the road,” said Ibitoye, urging drivers to resist the urge to check phones while driving and adhere strictly to speed limits.
