ZAMFARA NUJ URGES GOVERNMENT TO SUPPLY FERTILIZERS TIMELY, FOCUS ON AGRICULTURE TO TACKLE FOOD SHORTAGE

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Zamfara Council, has called on the state government to ensure timely distribution of fertilizers and farming inputs at subsidized rates to boost agricultural productivity. Speaking after the union’s congress in Gusau, Chairman Ibrahim Maizare and Secretary Ibrahim Gada emphasized the importance of agriculture in addressing food shortages facing the state.

The union acknowledged the challenges posed by insecurity and climate change but commended Gov. Dauda Lawal’s efforts in improving security and infrastructure under his Rescue Agenda. They urged continued collaboration with security agencies and full implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage and pension reviews to improve workers’ welfare.

Highlighting journalistic integrity, the NUJ inaugurated Ethics and Disciplinary and Education and Training committees, urging members to uphold accuracy, fairness, and professionalism in their work.
