A passenger train traveling from Itakpe to Warri derailed on Saturday around 4:30 p.m. at Adogo community in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State. The derailment left passengers stranded for several hours before being safely rescued by police and security operatives.
CSP William Ovye-Aya, Kogi Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed that Commissioner of Police Naziru Kankarofi led a swift response, deploying officers to secure the scene and assist stranded passengers. All passengers were evacuated to Ajaokuta station and later helped to continue their journeys, with no casualties reported.
The police commissioner personally visited the site, coordinating with Nigerian Railway Corporation officials and reinforcing security to protect people and infrastructure.
