SPAIN DROPS YAMAL FROM WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS AFTER SURPRISE GROIN PROCEDURE

Spain’s star winger Lamine Yamal was released from the squad ahead of crucial World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Turkey after undergoing an unexpected radiofrequency treatment for a persistent groin injury. The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) expressed surprise and concern as they were not informed prior to the procedure, which required Yamal to rest for 7 to 10 days.

Yamal, 18, has missed five club matches due to the injury and had been a key player for both Barcelona and Spain, scoring six goals and assisting six in 11 games this season. Spain currently leads Group E and aims to secure a finals spot with upcoming matches.

RFEF prioritized the player’s health, but the medical staff felt left in the dark by the timing and lack of communication. Spain’s head coach Luis de la Fuente called the situation unprecedented and difficult to accept.
