At the annual conference of the National Association of Forestry Uniformed Staff of Nigeria (NAFUS) in Akure, Ondo State, the government called on forest guards nationwide to provide vital information to help tackle Nigeria’s security challenges. Represented by Chief Segun Odusanya, Ondo’s Agriculture and Forestry Permanent Secretary, Commissioner Leye Akinola urged guards to leverage their proximity and knowledge of forest terrains.
He emphasized restoring respect for forest guards and renewing forest reserves with trained personnel, while reaffirming Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to security partnerships involving Amotekun Corps and increased recruitment. NAFUS leaders highlighted the need for government support in equipping guards and enhancing welfare.
NAFUS National President Oluwasayo Anifowose pledged the association’s full cooperation with government efforts to ensure forest security through active reporting and collaboration.
